The apartment is in a courtyard off a small street in the historic neighborhood of Xochimilcho, just a short walk into the heart of Oaxaca.
 There are several residences behind the big metal door. The apartment is in the far back.
 The apartment is on the second floor of this architect designed, two-unit residence.

 The livingroom and diningroom/kitchen are one big airy room.
 The kitchen has a modern stove with a working oven. There is good counter space and additional storage units for dry goods and glassware. You’ll find additional appliances like a toaster oven and electric juicer.

 A Oaxacan artist made me a beautiful paper fish lamp to hang over the counter. Looks great against the hand-finished blue oceany wall.

 A comfortable couch — hallelujah! A rarity in Oaxaca rentals.
 At night the lighting is dramatic, but there are reading lamps in the bedrooms and livingroom.
 Reliable internet and a large  desk with good lighting makes working in the apartment easy.

 It’s a cheerful, sunny apartment and is great for entertaining.  The back wall of the livingroom has an interesting hand-stuccoed design by the architect.
 The two bedrooms are off this hallway. The architect has paid attention to even the smallest details.
 Every window has a lovely view, of a garden or the courtyard.
 Bathroom is modern and bright.

 Beds are comfortable, bedroom is airy. Plenty of closet space. This window overlooks the front  terrace of the downstairs resident.

 The utility room is off the kitchen.

 The rooftop terrace is delightful throughout the day and evening.
 The views of Oaxaca are wonderful from the rooftop — the city to the west and the mountains to the east.

 The rooftop terrace overlooks a neighbor’s lush garden, which is full of flowering trees and is an oasis for parrots, tanagers, hummers, and other birds .
 I use the rooftop as an art studio when I am in residence.
 The jacaranda trees are in full purple majesty in the spring and summer.
